Storytelling 101
Marketplace for Your Book
Before you pen your first word, it might be a good idea to identify what your marketplace might be. For this book I chose a wide-ranged audience for the following reasons:
- Post World War II “Baby Boomers” now approaching seventy. The impact of this book would be greatest on this group of readers since they refuse to give up their youths and grow old gracefully. The author, a member of that generation, refers to them as the “adventures forever group”.
- The story does not exercise a dominant male over female role but rather quietly suggests a certain moral equality between two major characters, even though the male character is a king. This is most appealing to the ever-increasing female labor and corporate marketplace.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience is age 18+. The manuscript can be rated as GP but is really an adult fantasy/adventure. It is just a story with no hidden political/religious agenda. I believe the story line will be profitable for both the publisher and author.
Presently, there are quite a few books on the market that may be competitive. At this particular time, the market for these types of fantasies is on the rise. The motion picture arena is filled with fantasies (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc…).
